Welcome to my product review! In this post, we’ll take a view on the popular and super hyped Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser.
Is it worth its price? Is the hype real? Does it really work for all skin types? You’re about to know!
What it is?
Milky Jelly Cleanser is a gentle gel face wash.
Here’s what Glossier says about it:
How and why I got it.
I was in search of a good face wash for my combination skin.
My previous cleansers were drying my skin.
It led to breakouts.
I knew and heard a lot of times about Glossier. But I didn’t know any of their products but Balm Dotcom.
But when I was scrolling their website I got inspired to buy the Milky Jelly.
It seemed to fit my skin type and reviews were very positive.
I got the mini version of the bottle which is 2 oz/60 ml. It is $9. The full-size one is twice bigger and more expensive.
There was so much hype on the Internet about it. And it was irresistible.
Plus, my intuition was like: okay. sure. let’s get it. it seems nice.
And it wasn’t wrong!

Now I’d like to describe it in detail.
One of the reasons Glossier is so popular is its well-known cute packaging.
Milky Jelly has a white and quite a transparent bottle. I suppose it’s made from plastic.
The main colors are white and pastel pink which combine VERY well.
Well, you can see it in the pictures.
The texture is very very gentle and soft. Feels like silk or baby’s skin.
It isn’t oily, sticky, nor watery. Milky Jelly is even softer than liquid soap. It is rather like a good sauce heheh.
Smells like roses. That’s because it has rose water as an ingredient.
Well, I’m not a huge fan of its smell honestly. It has some flowery scent but I feel chemicals a bit.
But even roses smell like that. So I see nothing wrong with the cleanser.
Feels after using
After first uses, a month ago, I’ve written down my impressions. So basically, here are my first impressions of Milky Jelly:
“My skin feels so soooft!! Like whaaat?! It cleansed my light make up perfectly. My face is not dry after washing it and it hasn’t felt like this for a long time already. I’m glowing!!”
Even after a month, I can’t get enough of it. This face wash makes my face so soft I wanna cry.
So what is it doing to my skin besides making it smooth?
It helps me to get rid of the dirt and oil from my skin after a day and night. Which prevents big gatherings of it. And thus I have fewer pimples.
Also, it moisturizes and hydrates very well.
So, first impressions:
- cute bottle
- soft skin
- gentle texture
- didn’t like the smell
How to use
Well, there are 2-3 main ways.
First, when in the morning after waking up I apply it on a slightly wet, damp skin.
2-3 bumps (size of a pea) are perfectly enough.
And apply it all over my face. Eyes too. But it doesn’t hurt. As there is an ingredient that is used in the solutions for contact lenses, so it is safe for eyes!
The second way, when you have your makeup on use it on dry skin.
Unless it is a waterproof makeup, the cleanser dissolves it and then you get rid of it with water.

So now we can decide its pros and cons.
- the smell (not everybody may like the roses’ smell)
- the price I got it for (originally, it’s $9 in the US. But it summed up to nearly $20 with all the shipping to Europe where I live.)
- the gentle texture
- you need a really small amount of cleanser (1 bump is the size of a pea, again) so it’s for long use.
- rinses off light makeup, most oil and dirt perfectly.
- very cute packaging and can fit in any bag (esp. the 2 oz/160 ml one)
- doesn’t dry out the skin
- leaves a nice glow afterward
If you have a normal, combination, dry, or slightly oily skin this cleanser is a must-have!
For normal skin, it keeps the balance, and gives the feeling of cleanliness and glowing.
Milky Jelly moisturizes and softens dry skin (but don’t forget to also use a moisturizer afterward!).
This face wash gets rid of most of oil and dirt that actually can help if you have a combination and a slightly oily skin (as I do).
But Milky Jelly is too gentle for oily and acne-prone skin.
So is it worth its price? I would say yes.
Is the hype about Milky Jelly real? Yes, completely. It deserves every single positive comment about it.
Some other questions I can answer:
1. Is it vegan? Yeah, and cruelty-free
2. Does your skin get tight or feel too clean after that? No, it’s smooth and hydrated.
3. Does it help with acne?
Not completely. I still have some acne and acne scars. But it does calm skin down. And I haven’t broken out much since the first use.
4. Is it good for dry/sensitive skin? Yeah. I have dry cheeks and they’re pretty sensitive. And the cleanser doesn’t irritate them.
5. How about oily skin?
It may not work that well for oily skin as for combination and normal. As it may not get rid of all the oil.
6. Do you need any moisturizer after that? Of course! Always use the moisturizer.
7. Are there any drugstore alternatives to the Milky Jelly cleanser? I’m not sure. This cleanser is special. My skin got more glowing and radiant. But it is still possible to find something similar.
