Hi, sunny!

In this post, I want to share with you 2 VSCO recipes that worked for me to fake the golden hour filter.

If you do not know, the golden hour is the time when the sun is almost setting and rising.

It is when it gives a nice golden light. Like this:

2 Ways to Fake The Golden Hour Filter - My Vivid Life
In this post, I want to share with you 2 VSCO recipes that worked for me to fake the golden hour filter #goldenhour

I’ve tried many recipes, but not every of them worked.

So I changed some things and got a really ~nice~ golden hour moment heheh.

I’ll show you 2 pictures of me before and after the filters.

And below the pics I’ll write down the exact recipe.

There will be also some tips that helped me to get better filters.

Golden Hour #1

~remember, it is a VSCO app~

  • Exposure – -3
  • Contrast – +1.9
  • Saturation – +1.5
  • Tone>> Highlights – +4
  • White Balance>> Temperature – +0.9
  • White Balance>> Tint – +0.9
  • (Optional) Grain – +3

It feels like the second picture was taken at the first stages of sunset.

Buuut… in reality, I took this picture at 10 in the morning.

Honestly, I caught a really nice vibe here heheh

Golden Hour #2
  • Exposure – -2
  • Contrast – +1.2
  • Saturation – +1.7
  • Tone>> Highlights – +3.6
  • White Balance>> Temperature – +0.9
  • (Optional) Grain – +3

As you see, the recipes are very similar, almost the same.

But every tine adjustment changes the whole picture.

So don’t be afraid to experiment and play with it!

Here are some tips that helped me a looot:

  • take the picture actually in front of the sun. It should look as natural as possible.
  • add Grain. It gives some nice vintage vibes and makes the pic look much better
  • do not overindulge in Saturation and Highlights if you have light skin, ’cause it will look very orange
  • you do not need to add exposure (better even decrease it), because the sun already gives lots of light
  • play with the Split Tone (especially with Highlights Tint) to give more warmth to the pic

I wish you to catch a gorgeous golden hour moment! Have a nice day and life!

Don’t forget to share and save for later:)
